On May 12, 2017, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the company "JV RISOIL TERMINAL” in order to increase the volume of cargo flow in the seaport Chernomorsk together with a simultaneous increasing of the depth level.
According to the memorandum, the USPA will carry out dredging in the water area of the 1 boot basin of the Dry Aber of the Illichevsk branch of the SE "USPA”. The feasibility study of this project was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in October 2016. Today the dredging project is going through the confirmation procedure. According to the project the depth is expected to increase from 12 to 15 meters. Besides the approach channel depth is expected to increase up to 16 meters. Total volume of dredging will be up to 3104, 7 thousand cubic meters. According to the project schedule the dredging starts in the 4th quarter of 2017 and will be completed in 2018.
For its part, the port operator "JV RISOIL TERMINAL” intends to increase its handling capacity in the port and provide export cargo flow in amount not less than 3 million tons per year, in accordance with the memorandum. For these purposes a multipurpose warehouse No. 2, railcar unloading station No.2, silo tanks, conveyor gallery to the junction of berths No. 10, 11 and along the berth No. 11 with installation of a vessel loading machine on the berth №11, a two-berth pier to the junction of berths No. 10- 11 and No.11-а and 11-b with installation of vessel loading machines, will be built. These new capacities are aimed to increase the number of calls to the port and port charges respectively.
